And although people usually play a supporting role in my photos, I also enjoy going on the occasional portrait tour. A good example is a portrait of children’s book author Rob Koops, taken just after the release of the third part of his trilogy Oerbloed. The fact that Koops made his debut with this trilogy – he’s only just starting – the medieval fantasy world in which his story takes place, and his sense of humour inspired me to create both the colour portrait and the black-and-white image.

The portrait of Koops is the first in a series of narrative portraits of creative people that I’m currently working on.
