Villa Tulpenburg

Even after 25 years of living in Utrecht, I still discover hidden gems, such as the Laan van Puntenburg. On one side stand modern, large buildings; on the other, old, stately houses.

One of these, the rear façade of the former main building II of the Maatschappij tot Exploitatie van Staatsspoorwegen, is magnificent: Tulpenburgh. Since the rear entrance is located on the Laan van Puntenburg – with the elegant grand entrance facing the Moreelsepark – its function remains puzzling; it resembles a grand villa more than an office building.
