I can create a story. But I can’t decide what story you see in it.

You turned me into an artist.

A visual storytelling project I’ve been working on for some time had its first pilot this weekend, with three 2 × 2 metre canvases at the music and culture festival ‘A Different Note’ in Utrecht.

With You turned me into an artist, I play with text and image. I deliberately leave undefined who ‘you’ and ‘me’ are. The viewer makes that choice for themselves and, in doing so, becomes part of the project.

With this, I want to show that stories are never truly finished. As a viewer, you always bring your own experiences, preferences and stories, which determine your own perspective in relation to the ‘you’ and the ‘me’.
